How can I contact the owner of a listing?
After choosing a listing (see above), scroll down to the end of the listing, where you will see a contact form. We highly recommend that you compose your home exchange offer in your word processor and then copy and paste it into the response form. A well-presented, friendly inquiry is most likely to receive a response.

What should I include in my response to a listing?
Before you respond to any listing it is a good idea to review a number of Rotarian Home Exchange Fellowship listings to get a feeling for what members say about their homes and desired trades. A good listing response will include a description of your home, neighborhood and a bit about yourself and family and when you would like to make the exchange. A listing response should be composed in your word processor and be checked for spelling and grammar. You can then copy and paste it into the response form at the end of every listing. It is a good idea to include your telephone number in your response, as some folks are more comfortable with non computer communication.

The Trading Places guide has a wealth of information including sample letters and agreement forms.

What's the difference between a home exchange and a hospitality exchange?
Basically, there are two types of exchanges: home exchange and hospitality exchange.

Home exchangers trade their homes, condominiums or apartments at a time that is convenient to both parties, but these are not the only types of accommodations that one gets to choose from. For example, one exchanger traded his home for a 40-foot yacht. Another couple swapped their villa in Italy for a RV in Oregon because they had always wanted to tour the USA in true nomadic style. Often, home exchangers will include their automobiles as part of the package.

Hospitality exchangers, on the other hand, host each other in their homes at designated times. Your home exchange partners stay with you as guests and then you go and stay with them as their guests. There is a social aspect to this kind of exchange that some exchangers particularly enjoy. Conceivably, you also get a built-in tour guide with this mode of exchange.

Some of the listings do not have a year in the desired date section and thus look "out of date." What's going on?
Members who trade at the same time each year may choose not to place "year" in their listing. If a listing looks "out of date" you may send them a message indicating your interest for a particular time and perhaps the member will also be interested.

May I exchange my apartment?
Yes. However, it is appropriate to notify the owner of your apartment and get any permissions necessary.

Will anyone be interested in my "average" home?
Yes, folks exchange homes for many reasons. A potential home exchange partner may wish to be near a loved one or family member, or perhaps need to come to your area for business reasons. So your "average" home may be just the ticket for someone wanting to exchange with you.

Rotarian Home Exchange Fellowship has a varied range of home exchange offerings from high end apartments and estates to average homes in regular neighborhoods. If you have specific requirements just state this in your listing. A Rotarian Home Exchange Fellowship listing gives you high exposure and as the listing is in your own words - maximum options while maintaining control over your choices.
